What is EGSB reactor ?

EGSB reactor is a successful combination of anaerobic fluidized bed with UASB . During the primeval fludization in the EGSB reactor , the expansion phase ( volume expansion rate is about 10%-30%) , the velocity of the water flow is very high . It is the speed of flow that , one and one hand accelerate the biochemical reaction by fully mixing the substrate sludge particles with the water , on the other hand , relieve the overloaded status in the bottom of the bed ( usually serious in the static bed , such as UASB ) , and increase the capacity for the biologic material expecially for the toxic materials .

Application of anaerobic digester tank

Anaerobic digesters are utilized in many situations where industrial or agricultural operations produce a significant organic waste stream . In addition , municipal solid waste ( MSW ) landfills produce landfill gas from natural decomposition of organic material in the waste that can be captured for use as an energy source . Many MSW sites now have wells to capture biogas produced from waste decomposition . Wastewater treatment plants  ( WWTPs )  can also be converted to operate anaerobically , and they can be used to produce biogas from a variety of wastes .

Anaerobic digestion of municipal wastewater sludge has been widely practiced since the early 1900s and is the most widely used sludge treatment method .

Overall , the process converts about 40% to 60% of the organic solids to methane and carbon dioxide. The chemical composition of the gas is 60-65% methane , 30-35% carbon dioxide, plus small quantities of H2 , N2 , H2S and H2O . Of these , methane is the most valuable because it is a hydrocarbon fuel , it can sell in the market , which can greatly solve the problem of energy crisis .
